The plant was at the center of a deadly listeria outbreak, which was linked to 9 deaths and 57 hospitalizations. This is how deregulation costs jobs. 500 workers at this one plant alone were displaced. In a town like Jarratt, VA, that’s devastating. Their entire population as of 2022 was 935.
