In fact, chemical abortion is quite safe, and ends early pregnancies safely and usually at home. Most chemical abortions present as a late and heavy period. These types of drugs are also used to treat miscarriages that haven’t expelled yet, so that the woman doesn’t develop sepsis and other infections related to carrying dead tissue inside her body.

This recommendation equates to a federal abortion ban – over half of all abortions performed in the United States are chemical abortions that are in very early stages of pregnancy.
